Quinte Chiropractic & Sports Injury Clinic - Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic Care and Spinal Adjustments, (also known Spinal Manipulative Therapy), was first pioneered over a hundred years ago as a method of improving how the spine worked. The theory was that misaligned vertebrae placed pressure on spinal nerves, thereby affecting the many different functions in the body controlled by those nerves. By correcting the spinal misalignment, the nervous system could work properly again. Chiropractors placed a strong emphasis on the philosophy of Prevention - if the body was working optimally, then we wouldn't get sick.

Through this focus on the spine, over time Chiropractors became known as spinal experts and what we describe as a cross between a Mechanic and a Neurologist. The Chiropractic Profession has continued to evolve and now includes 5 different specialties in Canada, in the fields of Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, Clinical Research, Radiology and Sports Sciences. Chiropractors not only manipulate the spine and other joints, such as the shoulder, hip or knee, but they often use a variety of adjusting techniques, soft tissue treatments, and prescribe condition specific exercises to assist in recovery and help prevent recurrence with other muscle and joint ailments as well.

After completing his Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph with a focus on Human Biology and Kinetics, Dr Bardwell attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, where he graduated with Clinic and Academic Honours in 1991. Dr Bardwell then worked at clinics in both England and Toronto, before taking over the Belleville office of Dr Michael Regan in 1995 and starting the Quinte Chiropractic & Sports Injury Clinic. In addition to his extensive chiropractic training, Dr Bardwell is Fellow in the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences and is certified in Medical Acupuncture by the AFCI and CAMA, through the University of Toronto and McMaster University respectfully, and has completed Concussion Management training through both the Shift Concussion Management Program and ImPACT Concussion Testing.
